  • Ensure compliance with federal mandates and legislation, including the Federal Information Security Modernization Act

 

  • Monitor to ensure that IT systems are performing up to specifications

 

  • Fortify cyber security systems and protect the information that is stored, processed and transmitted

 

  • Put technical security standards in place and maintain them

 

  • Provide support to IT system security engineering, design and development

 

  • Perform development and lifecycle management of information security systems and subsystems

 

  • Assess different systems, make careful note of security controls, collect and analyze residual risk data, examine the effectiveness of risk mitigation practices and inspect systems for compliance with security baselines

 

  • Provide support for interpreting internal and Federal privacy and information assurance mandates

 

  • Develop compliance documentation to identify holdings of PII, assess privacy risks and implement privacy protection in various systems and programs. This is all done in compliance with the Privacy Act, E-Government Act and newly developing privacy policy directives and guidance

 

  • Thoroughly train employees on privacy awareness, which mitigates risk to information and information systems
